GUPPY
INTRO TO SWIMMING:
This gentle introduction to swimming is designed for children ages 6–18 months and their parent or guardian. At this stage, the adult is the primary student, learning how to safely and confidently support their baby in the water while encouraging exploration and comfort.
Each child must be accompanied by one adult (18 years or older) in the pool during every class. With an emphasis on fun, bonding, and safety, this class guides both parent and child through playful water activities that promote early swim readiness and water familiarity. Special focus is placed on building comfort with back floating and body position.
Skills explored and practiced include:
- Getting wet through toys and splashing
- Gentle in-water exploration of the pool environment (ladders, skimmers, depth markers)
- Entering and exiting the pool safely
(adult lifts child in and out)
- Wall holds: encouraging children to hold onto the pool edge with support
- Breath control: blowing bubbles on the surface and submerging mouth, nose, and eyes
- Supported floating and gliding:
- Front float and front glide with support
- Back float and back glide with support
- Alternating leg kicks on both front and back while supported
- Reaching for toys underwater while developing comfort with submersion
- Kicking play to encourage movement and engagement in the water
This level provides a gentle foundation for future swimming success, helping your child grow comfortable in and around the water while you learn techniques to support their aquatic development.
SEAHORSE
COMFORT WITH A PARENT:
This introductory class is designed for children ages 18 months to 5 years who are new to swimming and benefit from having a parent or guardian in the water with them.
A parent or adult guardian is required to participate alongside each child during every class.
This level focuses on helping young swimmers gain comfort and confidence in the water through playful, skill-based learning.
Children will be introduced to essential water safety and swimming foundations, including:
- Entering and exiting the pool safely using seated and side-roll methods
- Holding onto and crawling along the pool wall
- Breath control and submersion: blowing bubbles with the
mouth and nose, holding breath underwater
- Floating:
front and back floats
for 5 seconds with assistance
- Gliding: assisted
front and back glides
for 2 body lengths
- Drafting/underwater glides between instructor and parent
- Assisted
treading water
for 5 seconds using a swim belt
Children will wear a swim belt during class to help build independent movement and body position while learning to float, glide, and explore. This level lays the foundation for future swimming success in a fun, supportive, and engaging environment.
STARFISH
STARFISH-COMFORT: (Ages 3 and up) This level is for those who are brand new to swimming or who have no prior swim lessons. In this class, children learn to hold their breath, blow bubbles with mouth and nose, and put their faces in the water. They will learn basic floats and glides on front and back and learn to move independently using an assistive swim belt. They also develop a bond and trust for their instructor, as they build the courage to jump into the water.
TURTLE
BASIC SWIM SKILLS/ SWIM MOVEMENTS: (Ages 3 and up) This level will teach bobbing, review front and back floats and glides, and teach all the leg and arm movements of the freestyle, backstroke, elementary backstroke, and breaststroke
STINGRAY
FREESTYLE/ELEMENTARY BACK STROKE: (Ages 3 and up) This level reviews bobbing, introduces bobbing to safety, rolling over in the water, tuck floats, surface dives and finning. Students will learn to independently swim the freestyle and elementary back stroke. **This is the first level that allows goggles during class!**
FROG
BACKSTROKE/BREASTSTROKE: (Ages 3 and up) This level reviews treading and front and back floats and glides with recovery. Students will be introduced to sitting dives and they will learn to independently swim the backstroke and breaststroke.
DOLPHIN
STROKE REFINEMENT: (Ages 3 and up) This level takes all the skills the student has learned in previous levels and uses them to have the student swim the length of the pool (15 meters) in all 4 strokes. The level introduces kneeling dives, rotary breathing, dolphin kicks and underwater streamline glides to prep those who may move onto a swim team program.
SWIM TEAM/STROKE
MAINTENANCE
(Ages 5 and up) All four strokes are evaluated and corrected with the use of drills and coach instruction. The goal of this class is to help swimmers improve stroke technique and teach drills that will enable the continued refinement of the strokes. NOW OFFERING A DROP IN OPTION!!!
